My husband Billy and I met as children at Pony Club. Two horses, two families, and two lives with no particular reason to cross, and then they did.
That is what this painting is about. I have put them close together, headcollars tangled, noses almost touching, because that is how it felt. Something quiet and ordinary at the time that turned out to shape the rest of my life.
Collide is the beginning of a series of two-horse paintings about that story. I keep coming back to it.
Medium: Acrylic, synthetic polymer paint on linen
Painted on Belgian linen, primed by hand in my studio, in Matisse artist-quality acrylics rated to the archival standard, so the colour holds for generations.
Framing and delivery are arranged through Chapman and Bailey in Melbourne and quoted separately, so you choose exactly the finish you want.
Price includes GST and stretching, excludes framing and delivery.
