A journey with rescued souls. This painting tells the story of three brave horses who found their way home.
Leo, his mother Zen, and Chief.
All three were originally hers. She bought Zen online, in foal with Leo, and she raised Leo from the day he was born and took wonderful care of them both. Handling them and breaking them in was not her field, and that is where we came in. Zen and Leo came to us, and my husband and I broke them in ourselves.
That is the slower way to do it and it changes what you end up with. You learn a horse's flinches before you learn their paces, and the trust you have at the end of it is something you built rather than something you bought.
We learnt our horsemanship from Chris Cox, the four-time Road to the Horse world champion, at his place in Texas.
